About Dr. Willis Wainwright
Dr. Willis Dean Wainwright, USN (Ret.), is a retired United States Navy Chief Warrant Officer Four, author, entrepreneur, faith leader, and mentor. Raised in Marion, Louisiana, he learned discipline, responsibility, and perseverance from his family. His father taught him to live without excuses, while his mother demonstrated leadership through sacrifice, organization, and the daily responsibility of raising a large family. After dropping out of high school, the support of his aunt and grandmother helped him return to his education and regain direction.
Dr. Wainwright entered the Navy’s Delayed Entry Program in 1986, but a serious horseback-riding accident nearly ended his military plans before they began. After an extended recovery, he went on to complete a distinguished 32-year naval career, advancing from Fireman to Chief Warrant Officer Four and serving as a Chief Engineer, inspector, trainer, and technical leader. His assignments placed him aboard numerous ships and in challenging operational environments, where he became known for preparation, accountability, calm leadership, and commitment to the safety and development of others.
Following his retirement in 2018, Dr. Wainwright continued his work through entrepreneurship, ministry, education, and community service. He founded several businesses, including Gooseneck Trucking Company, Gooseneck LLC, and Wainwright Family Village, with the goal of creating opportunity and building a lasting family legacy. He also earned multiple theology degrees from Liberty University, including a PhD in Pastoral Counseling. Today, he draws upon his experiences as a veteran, businessman, minister, father, and grandfather to encourage others to face hardship honestly, work with discipline, trust God, and build a life that can positively influence future generations.
